Thiruvamathur

Kalvarayan hills

Ennaiyaram

The Chola temple of Narasimma swamy koil Built by Rajaraja Chola 1 (985 –1014). 8,000 samanaras were lived in this village. It is Located near gingee.

This temple is located near vikravandi. The Lorg Nagathammal is great god in this temple. In Sithirai evey fridaythere is a fesival in that temple.

Mandagapattu

 A famous Archeological Temple site is 20 kms from Viluppuram and 17 kms from Gingee.  It is a 100 ft hillock, where the Mahendraverma (I) of Pallava kind, (580-630 made a cave temple. It is a beautiful location to the tourist person.

Melchittamur

MelChittamur is 20 kms of Thindivanam and 10 kms east of Gingee.  Head quarters of Digambara sect in Tamilnadu with the JINAKANCHI MATHA presided over by the Pontiff.

Arouville

This town is located near pondicherry. Thiruvvakarai

A Geological park  is about 40 kms from Viluppuram and 25 kms from Puducherry.  A national geological park with large number of petrified tree trunks known as fossil are found here.  There is a temple for Lord Siva constructed by the famous  Chola queen Sembiyan MadheviyarArulmigu Vakkaralingam and Arulmigu Vakkrakali for whom every full moon day and night of the year special prayers are conducted and thronged by pious devotees throughout the night.  The Temple was sung by the Thirugnana Sambandar.  Excellent sculptures and car/chariot like Mandapam is also existing here with huge Nandhi and Ganesha.

Marakkanam

Marakkanam is the town panchayat in villupuram district. It is located at 22 kms from pondicherry and 35 kms from Thindivanam. In Marakkanam there is a peaceful beach. In  the production of salt  Marakkanam places second position in Tamilnadu. The Salt Field is famous for Marakkanam. The Buckingham Canal from Andrapradesh ends in  this place only.

Anniyur

Anniyur is a village located near Villupuram. Anniyur is famous for the two important temples of lord shiva and vishnu. They are located inside the village. The Saneeswaran statue inside the shiva temple is the Very Famous one.

Parrikkal

A village located off  the national highway proceeding to Ulundurpettai  from Villupuram is Parikkal, which is famous for it Lakshmi Narasimhar temple.

Siruvanthaadu

A village located 15 km away from Villupuram on the way towards Cuddalore. It hosts on of the famous lakshmi Narashimar temples in South India.Silk Saree are products in this village.

Kalpattu

The Kalpattu 21 Feet Saneeswara Sannadhi was built to commemorate the 50th Maha Samadhi celebrations of Sri Swayam Prakasha Saraswathy Avadhutha Swamigal. Even today this tradition is upheld by Sri Swami Brahmmananda at Kalpattu Sri Swayam Prakasha Avadhutha Ashramam and there are no hundis or any commercial activities. Everything including accommodation is free in the Ashramam. Kalpattu R Narasimhan and family has given their life to this temple by performing various services even now.
